Learning philosophy: The electrical industry is a very large and always changing at a quick pace and one thing I’ve learned is you’ll never know everything. As it changes you need to learn and change with it.
What do you do for fun? I like to spend summer weekends at the lake with my family and friends golfing and surfing. Play hockey in the winter and I like to walk my golden retriever Kyzer — it helps me clear my mind when needed.
A certified red seal journeyman electrician who studied business economics at the University of Saskatchewan — and who was captain of the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL — Brenden Dowd has been bringing his technical expertise and relationship-building approach to customer service to Gescan since 2019.
Starting his career as an electrician in 2011, Brenden worked in the field for nearly seven years before making the move to inside sales at Gescan. Today, as an industrial outside sales representative, he works with customers to create solutions that address all needs, big or small.
With a focus on problem solving, Brenden is quick to find the right answers for any question — from who to contact or what the lead time or price is for a project.
“I treat my customers as a relationship and a partnership,” he says. “I work for the customer to make their life easier bringing them faster quotes on pricing, finding the right answers to questions they have, and being there for them 24/7, every day of the year.”
In this quickly evolving field, Brenden says staying on top of developments is crucial — whether that’s learning about a new product or getting involved in a new project.
