The Air We Breathe

When resting, you breathe in anywhere from 12 to 15 times a minute (about 20,000 breaths a day). According to the American Lung Association, the average adult male's lungs can hold a maximum of 6 litres (about 1.5 gallons) of air which translates to almost 2,000 gallons (7,570 litres) of air consumed per day.

From causing disease and increased hospitalizations to even premature death, it's no surprise that the World Health Organization (WHO) reports air pollution as the most severe environmental threat to human health. Health Canada estimates air pollution from human activity causes 14,000 to 15,000 deaths in Canada yearly. Even at low concentrations, air pollutants such as fine particulate matter and ground-level ozone can cause adverse effects.

Indoor Air Quality

Indoor air quality can be up to 8 times worse than outdoor. Since people spend 90% of their time indoors, the Canadian Lung Association asserts that their indoor air quality can significantly affect our health, comfort, and productivity. Combined with the present global pandemic, widespread attention is now strongly being paid to the negative health impacts of our built environments, specifically low air quality caused by insufficient ventilation.

Key Elements of Quality Air Design

Reduce particulate matter and odours

nanoe™X Air Repair Technology
Repairing Indoor Air

The only complete air quality system, Panasonic's innovative new nanoe™X air repair technology is an indoor purification solution incorporated into a variety of its ventilation, EVR, heating and cooling products. nanoe™X devices neutralize unwanted pollutants and odours in the air and on surfaces with a button from users' smartphones. Using hydroxyl radicals to inhibit hazardous substances, this advanced technology even treats tightly woven fabrics such as curtains, blinds, carpets and furniture.

nanoe™ X Revolutionary Air Purification Technology

Abundant in nature, hydroxyl radicals (also known as OH radicals) are unstable molecules looking to react with other elements like hydrogen. This naturally occurring reaction can inhibit the growth of pollutants, breaking them down and neutralizing their unpleasant effects to clean and deodorize indoor environments. By creating hydroxyl radicals contained in water, nanoe™ X patented technology significantly boosts hydroxyl radicals' lifetime from less than a second to more than 600 seconds (10 minutes), making nanoe™ X easy to spread throughout a space.

How nanoe™X Works

nanoe™X captures the virus

OH radical takes away hydrogen (H) from the virus

The radical turns into water to inhibit the virus

WhisperAir Repair with nanoe™X Technology

With the goal of helping people "breathe well to live well", Panasonic's complete air quality system and devices offer revolutionary air repair technology with smart home automation to not only circulate, purify and control indoor air but ultimately provide clean, comfortable, fresh environments to create healthier, happier lives.

Panasonic's new WhisperAir Repair Ceiling Mount device features nanoe™X technology to purify contaminated air. Capable of working independently from heating or cooling, nanoe™ X is generated from water in the air, allowing for 24-hour performance. The device requires no ductwork, filters or maintenance.
