The IC660BCM501 is a handheld monitor battery charger from the GE Fanuc Genius I/O family. IC660BCM501 is a valuable operator interface device that is best used to set up and monitor Genius I/O and communications systems. It weighs 3 lbs. and is operated using either the built-in battery or a 115 volt or 230 volt AC power supply. The battery pack must always be installed to operate IC660BCM501 even when using AC power. IC660BCM501 comes with an LCD display that has four lines of 16 characters each and a 20-key sealed membrane keypad. The keypad has three sets of keys, including function keys F1-F4, operation and decimal keys. English is the main display language; however, language can easily be changed to French, Italian or German. The screen on IC660BCM501 acts as the operator’s window to the Genius bus and its other devices courtesy of a keyswitch. The switch can be set to either configure (cfg) or monitor (mon) positions. When the switch is in the configure position, all functions are available. The handheld monitor can be configured to determine features that will be usable once the key is removed. While the keyswitch is in monitor position, IC660BCM501 can monitor bus and block data. Functions such as clearing faults or configuring I/O blocks can be used in monitor mode only if IC660BCM501 has been set up to allow their use. The keyswitch must be present to move the switch from monitor to configure mode. The keyswitch can only be removed in monitor position. Each new handheld monitor is sold with two identical keys. It is advisable to remove the key if system security becomes a concern.
